Description

This rare cat’s eye variety of tourmaline exhibits a unique reflection in light that resembles a cat’s slit eye.
The technical term used by gemologists to refer to this cat’s eye effect is called “shimmer”.
It is an exceptional and rare optical phenomenon that only occurs in a handful of fine and precious stones.
The reflection is caused by tiny parallel fibers or needle-like inclusions in the gem, and as the stone spins, a cat’s-eye-shaped reflection appears to glide and roll across the surface of the stone. .
Cat’s eye tourmaline is one of the rarest and most prized varieties of tourmaline among collectors and stone enthusiasts.
