The lapidaries cut this fine stone more particularly in a cabochon shape in order to preserve its play of light.
There is a wide variety of opal including Welo and Mezezo opal from Ethiopia, fire opal from Mexico, orange fire opal from Buriti in Brazil, blue fire opal from Peru, fire opal from ‘Andamooka in Australia, to name only the main ones.
