White opal, oval cabochon cut, 0.53 carat, origin Ethiopia
White opal with a clear background, with multiple iridescent reflections. Translucent fine stone revealing a fascinating play of colors.
Its name would come from the Sanskrit “upala” which means precious stone, and later the Greeks named it “opallios” meaning “to see a change of color”, because it has the ability to show a play of different colors depending on the angle of vision.
There are no two identical opals, each opal is unique with its own fire.
