Imperial topaz, with a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale, has a particular chemical composition, where the aluminum is partly replaced by iron, cobalt and chromium.
Imperial topaz comes in different colors such as cognac yellow, orange-pink, cherry (“sherry”), red, lavender pink, French rose and peach.
Natural varieties with a pink or cherry tone are rare and are the most expensive.
Very pretty pear-shaped gem for a superb pendant in the making.
