Superb blue-turquoise tourmaline from Paraíba, these very rare tourmalines were discovered in the early 1990s in the Paraíba region in northeastern Brazil, which gives it its name.
Other deposits were then discovered in Mozambique and Nigeria.
Paraíba tourmalines are blue to green to purple tourmalines, colored by copper. It is a stone sought after for its unique colors and which has an exceptional brilliance.
